SZABIST LIBRARIES hold a rich collection of Printed Books, Journals, Magazines, Newspapers and a large number of resources, which cover all subject areas. SZABIST library provides SZABIST’s own publications including journal of Independent Study & Research, Thesis, Dissertations, Proceedings, SZABIST Handbooks, etc. The SZABIST library subscribes to a number of digital online libraries through which students can access an unlimited number of journals and magazines.
SZABIST library has six workstations through which students can access to a wide range of electronic resources; this facility is further extended to registered students through SZABIST network on demand. Moreover, Library provides comfortable physical spaces and furniture with peaceful environment.
SZABIST is equipped with state-of-the-art computer facilities with around-the-clock high bandwidth connectivity to the Internet. Moreover, the campuses are equipped with Wi-Fi enabled devices providing students with unlimited access to the internet. Students and faculty members can access the Internet e-mail and the powerful servers in the hot-spot range through Wi-Fi from any place in the campus, for example library, garden and the hallway, All one needs is a notebook/laptop PC with Wi-Fi capabilities (Students must register their notebook/laptop PC MAC address with System Administrator). A dedicated SMART Lab having 54 latest Laptops and interactive board and Multimedia Projector is installed for Research students. SZABIST SMART Lab is built to enhance and improve the student’s experience with the advanced technology and also to improve the learning and teaching experience for both the students and faculty.
The laboratory is equipped with high-standard equipment and instruments to carry out experiments and research in the area of cellular biology, biochemistry and molecular biology for storing, processing, analyzing and characterization of samples, including centrifuges (normal and refrigerated), water baths, refrigerators, freezers (-20 and -80 freezers), orbital shaker, pipettes, micropipettes, pH meter, incubators, dry baths, hot-plate stirrers, vortex mixer, digital balances, ultra-pure (Millipore) water purification unit, spectrophotometers, microscopes, safety cabinet, rotary evaporator, lyophilizer, Protein electrophoresis unit, Agarose gel electrophoresis unit, Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) reader, PCR, Gel-Doc etc.
The major focus of this laboratory is to explore the biochemical, cellular and molecular responses and mechanistic changes in human and animal samples (e.g. blood, urine, saliva, tissues) as well as food samples.
The objective of the General Biosciences Lab is to assist students in building their hands on experience and practical skills. It serves as a laboratory for a number of courses with Biosciences related course labs. Furthermore, the lab is available to Biosciences undergraduate students to complete their final year research project during open hours i.e. when lab is not in progress for regular courses.
The Microbiology and Immunology laboratory is designed to help students become familiar with and proficient in the basic and advanced microbiology and immunology techniques. Students are engaged in the application of scientific methods to the study of the subcellular aspects of molecular biology and genetics of microbes, mechanisms of resistance to microbial infections, and development of therapeutics.
The laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art equipments like incubators, autoclave, vortex mixers, analytical balance, hot-plates, water-bath, inverted microscope, shaking incubators, refrigerated centrifuge, laminar flow hood and safety cabinet (class II), Gel-doc system. Students solidify their skills in microscopy, spectrophotometry, perform PCR reactions, SDS-PAGE, immunoprecipitation and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays along with the classic serological assays including the immunodiffusion and blood typing.
Plant tissue culture is widely used to produce clones of a plant in a method known as micropropagation. Tissue culture Laboratory was established in 2010 at Biosciences department.
The main objectives of the tissue culture facility is to optimize tissue culture media and growth conditions for micropropagation of medicinal and ornamental plants, in order to utilize them for research purpose.
The basic tissue culture facilities available in the tissue culture lab are tissue culture grade chemicals and biomolecules for culture media preparation, Laminar flow cabinets, Culture rooms, Growth rooms, Media preparation room, Washing area and Greenhouses.
Media cage @ 154C is equipped with state of the art industry standard production equipment including cameras, lighting and sound equipment, as well as well trained and experienced staff to facilitate students for all their production assignments. Studio at 154C is used for shoots, classes, lectures, and other events. Media studio reservations are made through the designated cage staff up to one week in advance. Students are expected and will be responsible for maintaining the good working condition of the studio area after their work is completed.
Studio at 154 is used for shoots, classes, lectures, and other events. Media studio reservations are made through cage staff up to one week in advance. Students will also be responsible for the condition of the studio area after finishing their work.
Media studio at 100 is used for drawing and other classes, shoots, exhibitions and screenings. Studio reservations are made through academic department up to one week in advance. Students will also be responsible for the condition of the studio area after finishing their work.
Sound studio at 100 is providing facilities of recording audio, voiceover and mixing sound design projects equipped with latest gears and technology to record, design & mix sound projects in stereo & surround formats. Students can reserve the sound studio with an advance notice of one week or more for up to 4 hours per session twice a week. Please note that all reservations should be made through an audio studio assistant with his/her signatures.
Media lab and iMac studio have the latest computers and iMac machines for editing, graphics, design and animation work.
As noted earlier, students and faculty members can access the Internet, e-mail through wireless from any place in the campus. In order to benefit from this service, students must register their Wi-Fi devices with the IT Manager.
The state-of-the art laboratory facilities at SZABIST (equipped with IBM x3650 Quad Core Servers Lenovo core 2duo/i3 PCS, LCDs+, multimedia, internet and networks) with campus licensing of most modern software development tools provide an environment unmatched by a majority of reputed universities in the country.
SZABIST has installed state-of-the-art computer facilities with full 7 x 24 x 365 high bandwidth connectivity to the internet. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled so the students with 802.11x capable devices (such as laptop and PDAs) can access all network resources wirelessly. All students have their email addresses and personal account with shared space hosted on the campus servers.
