LLB STRUCTURE

STANDARD ENTRY ROUTE (3-6 years)

Through the standard route students can complete their LLB (Hons) degree in a minimum of three and maximum of six years by passing a total of twelve modules. The standard course structure is as follows:

First Year

Four Compulsory Modules

  1. Legal Systems & Method
  2. Criminal Law
  3. Contract Law
  4. Public Law

Second Year

Three Compulsory Modules

  1. EU Law
  2. Property Law
  3. Tort Law

One optional module to choose from

  • Administrative Law
  • Commercial Law

Third Year

Three Compulsory Modules

  1. Equity & Trusts
  2. Jurisprudence & Legal Theory

Two optional modules to choose from

  • Company Law
  • Evidence Law
  • Intellectual property
  • Introduction to Islamic Law

GRADUATE ENTRY ROUTE (2-6 Years)

Students who already hold a bachelor’s degree are awarded exemptions from some modules and have to pass only nine rather than twelve modules. They can, thus, complete their LLB (Hons) degree within two years.

Upon completion of each year’s curriculum at SZABIST (taught through evening classes), students appear for final examinations conducted by the University of London in Karachi. After successfully passing examinations of all the required modules students are awarded LLB (Hons.) degrees by the University of London. Achieving this degree makes the graduates eligible to apply for the procedures of court enrollment in Pakistan, the Bar Professional Training Course in UK or even an LLM (Master of Laws) Program.
