SZABIST Holds "20th National Research Conference (NRC)"
SZABIST organized 20th National Research Conference (NRC) on Computing, Engineering, Management Sciences, and Social Sciences, on May 11, 2014, at SZABIST, Karachi. More than 75 research papers were presented by scholars on various thematic issues.
The 20th National Research Conference attended by Acting President, Ms. Shahnaz Wazir Ali, Vice President (Administration & Finance), Ms. Nasreen Haque, Dean of Computing & Engineering, Dr. Altaf Mukati and the Chief Guest, Dr. Abdul Rehman Memon, faculty, staff, and participants.
Speaking at the inaugural session Ms. Shahnaz Wazir Ali, (Acting) President SZABIST, thanked all the scholars and delegates for participating in the conference. She said, "This National Research Conference is a landmark conference, which defines SZABIST as a mature institution promoting research and providing a conducive environment for contributing to the knowledge economy". On breaking down barriers, she emphasized it is critical every individual make an effort to break free and to promote inquiry from the geographical, social, cultural, environmental, economic and most importantly knowledge "Barriers". She further conveyed the appreciation from the Chancellor SZABIST, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, to all faculty, students, and supporting staff for organizing a successful conference.
Professor Dr. M. Altaf Mukati, Conference Chair and Dean of (Computing & Engineering Sciences) at SZABIST, speaking on the occasion highlighted the importance of university research said; "SZABIST being a responsible academia will continue with its research efforts. At SZABIST, we spend resources on various research activities, such as; organizing research based conferences (national and international), seminars, forums and publishing research journals". On the conference theme, "Breaking Down Barriers" he added, "The technological revolution has been instrumental and has brought new challenges.
The Chief Guest of the conference, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rehman Memon, currently Advisor to Vice Chancellor Hamdard University thanked SZABIST for providing him the opportunity to talk about research and share his knowledge with the audience. He highlighted several new engineering fields of study including Water & Irrigation Engineering, Electrical & RLC Circuit Engineering, And Electrical Engineering Law of Induction.
