Research Paper Presentation at International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET-20), Bursa, Turkey

We are proud to share that two students of Mechatronics Engineering Department SZABIST, Minhaj Asif and Bisma Lateef Soomro successfully presented their Paper "Energy Loss in pipe for Industrial Application" at International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICET-20), Bursa, Turkey. Best Research Paper Award

Dr. Waqar Akbar, Assistant Professor Faculty of Management Science, participated in ‘5th Asia International Conference (AIC-19)’ organized by Connecting ASIA - University technology Malaysia at KLCC, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 6 -8 Dec, 2019 and won two positions for Pakistan and SZABIST.
There were more than 250 papers presented from 17 countries and SZABIST Karachi won two Best Research Paper Awards. 1st position in future of Marketing and Management category for the paper “Understanding slow adoption of HR analytics from the lens of innovation diffusion theory” coauthored Ms. Shumaila Ejaz and Dr. Waqar Akbar with registration ID AIC-2019-FMM-558 and 2nd position in Advances in Managing Operations and Sustainability category for the paper “A Multilevel Examination of the Impact of Transactional Leadership and Organizational Environmental Policy Beliefs on Employee Green Behavior” coauthored Ms. Asna Usman and Dr. Waqar Akbar with registration ID AIC-2019-AMOS-559.
Further, we are pleased to inform that Dr. Waqar Akbar also conducted the training on “Multilevel Structural Equation Modeling Data Analysis using Mplus” in same conference on 6 Dec, 2019. The training was attended and highly appreciated by international participants. To conduct a training on such a big platform and stand with the most well-known trainers like Prof Ramayah and Dr. Imran Qureshi is really appreciating efforts by our faculty member.


Ms. Hamna Iqbal Baig was selected amongst the 14 young journalists, by the British Council as part of their DICE program to report on social enterprises:

BBA 7E students, Mr. Asad Shah and Ms. Basrah Tariq along-with their group members won National Entrepreneurship Competition at IQRA University, Karachi on November 23, 2019. Students of Mr Zurrain Farhan (visiting faculty), they recieved Rs 80,000 for their business idea.


Alishan and Maryam Akram's research project entitled "Determination of Effectiveness of Maxtricum as Meal Replacement in Humans" was awarded with an honor prize of 10,000 Rs at the 5th DUHS-Dice Health Innovation Exhibition 2019:

Alishan and Maryam Akram's research project entitled "Determination of Effectiveness of Maxtricum as Meal Replacement in Humans" was awarded with an honor prize of 10,000 Rs at the 5th DUHS-Dice Health Innovation Exhibition 2019. Under the supervision of Dr. Saiqa Tabassum, the project was selected in the top 20 projects on 16th and 17th October 2019. This project is based on proposing a meal replacement product for a person as it provides whole nutrition requirements necessary to a human body and satisfying your hunger for a longer term.

Alumni SZABIST Mr. Muhammad Asad Faruqi won his first Emmy as a director for "Armed with Faith" in the "Outstanding Politics and Government Documentary" category. Mr. Asad, a graduate of 2011 batch from Faculty of Media Sciences, has also worked as a cinematographer on Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Oscar and Emmy winning films.


Two of SZABIST’s Alumni’s have recently developed Pakistan's first functional light weighted Prosthetic arm a (denoting an artificial body part) that can be controlled by giving commands via the brain:

Two of SZABIST’s Alumni’s Mr. Muhammad Anas Niaz and Ovais Hussain Qureshi have recently developed Pakistan's first functional light weighted Prosthetic arm a (denoting an artificial body part) that can be controlled by giving commands via the brain. This contribution is like giving a new life to the disabled people who can now work for themselves and participate in the society. Mr. Anas and Mr. Awais were graduate of 2018 and 2015, respectively, at SZABIST Bachelor of Mechatronic Engineering (BEME) program.
They got selected to represent Pakistan in GITEX 2016 (the world’s largest technological exhibition held in Dubai). Their company, Viscous.co started when studying in SZABIST, have been reviewed onto many different international forums such as Gulf News, Saudi Gazette and Forbes.

Neha Farid Faculty of Biosciences at SZABIST have been nominated by the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences for participation in the 70th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting which will be held in Lindau, Germany from 28 June to 3 July 2020. The 70th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting is dedicated to all natural science disciplines and will provide an open exchange of scientific expertise and inspire cross-cultural and inter-generational encounters among scientists from all over the world. Up to 80 Nobel Laureates and approximately 600 highly-talented young scientists from all over the world will participate in this meeting.


Research Paper of a student from Mechatronic Engineering was accepted in the "International Conference on sustainable energy and green technology 2018”:

Mr.Muhammad Talha who is an undergraduate student from mechatronics engineering at SZABIST recently wrote a research paper in his 2nd year which was his first paper and it was accepted in "International Conference on sustainable energy and green technology 2018" held on 11th to 14th Dec in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. Mr.Muhammad Talha went to Malaysia to present his research paper in that Conference and got an award of presentation.


Best Paper Award to Mr. Farhan Ahmed, Lecturer Faculty of Management Sciences at SZABIST:

Mr. Farhan Ahmed, Lecturer Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS) SZABIST Karachi, presented his research paper titled “Corruption & Inflation Nexus in Today’s World” (co-authored with Ms. Farissa Ismail & Dr. Muhammad Kashif) in 4th Asia International Conference 2018 organized by University Technology Malaysia and Connecting Asia at LCCI, Malaysia on 8th December 2018. After a rigorous process of paper review from all around the world, this paper has won BEST PAPER AWARD (1st Place/Position) under “Emerging issues in Economics & Finance” .This paper has also been shortlisted for publication in ISI and SCOPUS Indexed Journal in 2019.
The theme of the conference was “Managing Economy and Society in Digital Age.” Around 800 participants from 22 countries attended and presented their research work in LCCI, Malaysia.

National Pride: SZABIST student qualifies for London's public speaking competition

Bakhtawar Abbasi of the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST) won the Pakistan round of the public speaking contest of the English Speaking Union of Pakistan, 2014, and qualified for the honour of representing Pakistan at the international public speaking contest to be held in London from May 12-17, 2014.
